Kia ora everyone, it’s been a couple of weeks and lots has happened. And yes, we’re in the final straight!

• What’s been happening the last couple of weeks

Any of you driving through will have seen major changes. A successful set of nightshifts allowed us to (properly) repair the heavily potholed sections off the roundabout and construct final pavement layers.

Traffic islands have been formed and poured, new footpaths frame the intersection, and fresh line marking has been done. Daytime STOP/GOs were needed to pour new vehicle entrances which were all completed on schedule.

We’ve completed a bunch of new berms and hydro seeded as we go.

• What’s left to do?

This week and next we’ll complete the topsoiling and hydroseed the remainder of berms that need finishing.

The final piece of construction is to complete infill and pour the inside of the roundabout. We’ve discovered minor damage to the collar and will repair that at the same time.

We take some time to walk through and fix any ‘snags’. Snags is a term we use for those small jobs that need a tidy or quick fix before packing up and leaving.

• Impact on you and the wider community.

This Thursday night we will require one more nightshift and intersection closure.  Detours will be in place between 8pm – 6am.

This is to complete finishing touches at the roundabout and provide suitable curing time for concrete.

               Once again, thank you all for your ongoing cooperation and support. We need a combination of contractor availability and suitable weather which often can’t be confirmed until close to the work.

We’re on track to open the roundabout fully and remove the closures at Marlborough and Market Streets next week (before labour weekend!).
